Exhibition "Of All Books the Most Worthy of Reading ... around De revolutionibus"

The exhibition, located in the Royal Hall of the Old Town Hall in Toruń, is devoted to De Revolutionibus and its later reception, including modern translations. Literary relics on display will be accompanied by a presentation of Copernican prints from the 16th to the 20th century.

University concert - "Music and the Cosmos" at the NCU Aula

This year's University Day concert on 18 February, just a day before the 550th birthday of Nicolaus Copernicus, will take place in the NCU Aula. The concert, full of cosmic references, will be performed by the Toruń Symphony Orchestra under the baton of the Lithuanian conductor Dainius Pavilionis.

Inauguration of the World Copernican Congress

The first event of the World Copernican Congress will be the inauguration in Toruń, which is scheduled for 19 February - the anniversary of the great astronomer's birth, which is also Nicolaus Copernicus University Day.

Exhibition "Faces of Nicolaus Copernicus"

The exhibition, in the form of outdoor posters will be opened in the courtyard between the NCU Aula and the Rectorate building. The exhibition, curated by prof. Elżbieta Basiul (Faculty of Fine Arts, Research and Conservation Centre for Cultural Heritage) and dr Marek Rubnikowicz ( Kujawsko-Pomorskie Heritage Centre), presents the results of non-invasive conservation research on the most famous portrait of Nicolaus Copernicus held in the District Museum in Toruń.

Promotion of the book Nicolaus Copernicus Student Times

Meeting with the author of the book Nicolaus Copernicus Student Times: Cracow, Bologna, Rome, Padua and Ferrara (1491-1503). Places - People - Books, prof. Marian Chachaj. This is the first study to focus holistically on Nicolaus Copernicus' student days.

National Festival of Scientific Experiments

The National Chemistry Demonstration Festival has been organised since 2017 by the Student Chemists' Scientific Society at the NCU Faculty of Chemistry. It is a competition aimed at members of student chemistry societies active across the country. During the final competition, the best student chemists' scientific societies present their most effective chemical experiments in front of an audience and compete for the title of Champion of the Chemical Experiments. This year, after a two-year break, the 5th edition of this competition will take place on 17 March. During the Festival, 7 teams will be demonstarting their show experiments. The event brings together students from all over Poland and allows the public to observe extraordinary phenomena accompanied by amusing anecdotes in a pleasant atmosphere.

Exhibition at the Wozownia Gallery under the curatorial care of the Niemiejsce Group (concept). Introductory text: Maciej Kwietnicki. Nicolaus Copernicus' discovery described in De revolutionibus orbium coelestium - was hailed as a revolution. On the 550th anniversary of the birth of Nicolaus Copernicus and the 480th anniversary of the first edition of his Opus Magnum - On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres - we would like to ask the question: what might " the second Copernican Revolution" look like?

National Knowledge Competition on Nicolaus Copernicus Toruń 2022-2023

The Olsztyn events of the World Copernican Congress

The proceedings of the Olsztyn part of the Congress will take place between 21 and 24 June 2023. The sessions in Olsztyn will focus on the astronomer's biography, as well as museums dedicated to him.

16th Copernican Doctoral Seminar

The event is aimed at doctoral students and young scientists from Polish scientific institutions. The 16th Copernican Doctoral Seminar is an interdisciplinary meeting of young scientists carrying out research in the disciplines of chemistry, physics, medicine, biology and life sciences. Participants will present their results in the form of a presentation or a poster, which will be evaluated by specialists from a given discipline. There is also an opportunity to publish an article in a scientific monograph published by the NCU Scientific Publishing House.

The exhibition will be displayed in the windows of the Nicolaus Copernicus University Rectorate building (as part of the newly established 'Re:' Gallery, or as external posters in the yard between the NCU Aula and the Rectorate building. 41. Meeting of the Polish Astronomical Society

The 41st Congress of the Polish Astronomical Society will also be held during the Copernican World Congress from 11-15 September 2023. In 2023, the Polish Astronomical Society will celebrate its 100th anniversary of its foundation.

Exhibition "Of All Books The Most Worthy of Reading... Around De revolutionibus" by Nicolaus Copernicus

On the occasion of the Year of Nicolaus Copernicus, which marks the astronomer's 550th birthday, the University Library in Toruń has prepared a jubilee exhibition entitled "Of All Books Most Worth Reading... Around Nicolaus Copernicus' De revolutionibus". The collection refers to the astronomical tradition before the Copernican Revolution and is devoted to "De revolutionibus" and its subsequent reception. The board exhibition, located in the passageway between the University Library and the Faculty of Economics and Management, shows 14 copies of the work's first edition (1543) from the collections of Polish libraries.

Exhibition "Nicolaus Copernicus on Philatelic Values"

Presented in the lobby of the University Library, the exhibition consists of 21 display boards presenting a unique collection of philatelic values - stamps, FDC envelopes, postcards, occasional stamps and other philatelic artefacts related to the figure of Nicolaus Copernicus, including, among others, pre-war postcards. In addition to values from Poland, the collection on display includes an extensive collection from more than 70 countries from all over the world, on which the image of Nicolaus Copernicus has been used.

"Schools for Copernicus" - Exhibition of Works by Students Created on the Occasion of the 550th Anniversary of the Birth of Nicolaus Copernicus

In tribute to the eminent Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus and on the occasion of the celebration of the 550th anniversary of his birth, two highly inspiring activities aimed at school students of different educational levels were carried out. The "School of Copernicus' Friends" program and the 7th National Contest "Toruń with history for a friend" resulted in a unique exhibition of students' works that paid tribute to the astronomer and explored the history of his life and achievements. In connection with the occasion, they created birthday cards for Nicolaus Copernicus and printed on 3D printers buildings from cities visited by Nicolaus Copernicus.. Inauguration of the Toruń part of Copernican World Congress

7th National Conference on Light Pollution

Held periodically since 2013, the National Conference on Light Pollution addresses the impact of artificial lighting on our environment and ourselves. The aim of the conference is to present the current state of knowledge and exchange experiences in the field of environmental pollution caused by artificial light and to discuss measures to mitigate its negative effects.

Marek Żuławski. Painting from the Collection of the Nicolaus Copernicus University Museum

On 15 September, as part of the World Copernican Congress, an exhibition "Marek Żuławski. Painting from the Collection of the Nicolaus Copernicus University Museum" will be opened at the "Znaki Czasu" Center of Contemporary Art in Toruń. This will be the largest presentation of the artist's works in Poland and worldwide to date, featuring over 250 pieces of art, most of which were donated to the Nicolaus Copernicus University by the artist's wife, Maryla Żuławska. The exhibition at the Center of Contemporary Art will include oil paintings, acrylics, serigraphs, ink drawings, lithographs, collages, sculptures, and memorabilia related to the painter.

65th Scientific Meeting of the Polish Chemical Society

The 65th Scientific Congress of the Polish Chemical Society will be held in Toruń between 18 and 22 September 2023. This annual meeting of chemists is a high-level scientific event organised by the most important research centres in Poland. Topics include the presentation of the latest research achievements in chemistry in 14 sections and a panel discussion on cooperation between science and industry. The congress will provide an excellent opportunity for chemists from all over Poland to meet, exchange experience and scientific ideas, establish and maintain cooperation between research centres.
