The Development of Medicine under the Magnifying Glass
Many people forget that Nicolaus Copernicus was not only an astronomer or a lawyer, but also a medical doctor. This specialization became an inspiration for organising a medical section, the objective of which is to present the profiles of the most prominent physicians associated with the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region from the time of Copernicus to the 20th century.
The medical section has a popular science character and is addressed to all those interested in the history of medicine and the advancement of human civilisation.
The organisers of the section are staff members of Collegium Medicum, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, and it is under the honorary patronage of the Vice-Rector for Collegium Medicum, prof. dr. hab. Kornelia Kędziora-Kornatowska.
The event consists of a series of lectures addressing topics from the world of medicine, including the history of surgical development, homoeopathy, and animal treatment in the past. A detailed program of the event can be found on the section subpage.
The section event will take place on September 15, 2023. Admission to the proceedings is free and no registration is required, but you can add this event to your plan to attend the Congress and then browse through them on your created user account. To create your plan you must first create a user account on the Torun part of the World Copernican Congress website: https://kopernik550.umk.pl/en/
